[O02-P01] A Field of Clouds over the Matsumoto Basin
Keywords:Matsumoto Basin, Fields of clouds, Inversion layer
We're from the Geoscience Club. One day when we were meeting at Matsumoto Fukashi High School, by chance we saw a field of clouds over the Matsumoto basin from the roof of our school. We were amazed and interested in this scenery. Therefore, we started researching why this field of clouds formed.First, we made a hypothesis. We believed that this field of clouds was an inversion layer.Second, we checked the temperature recorded at Matsumoto Station, Arigasaki High School, and at our school on foot every weekday morning. Thereby, we found that inversions often occur over the Matsumoto basin. Finally, we used a time-lapse camera and took movies of fields of clouds. We found that on the days when a field of clouds forms, at night the sky is clear.
