[O02-P29] Emergence of Jomon people in Torihama -Verification of human activity by analysis of charcoal particles and pollen-

Ruins of the Jomon period , such as the Torihama remains, are located around Lake Mikata in the southern part of Fukui. A number of archaeological researches and studies have been carried out there. We had many questions and interests such as, “At the inception of the Jomon period, when and under what kind of condition did the Jomon people appear in Torihama?” We made a hypothesis. Human activities become high when the climate becomes mild. Along with that, the amount of charcoal particles in the lake sediment increases. We tested the hypothesis of this by recovering sediment from Lake Mikata and analyzed the charcoal particles and pollen residue found. As a result, it is now clear that charcoal particles have been increasing rapidly since about 12,700 years ago. What does the fact indicate? We’ll explain that by our results of pollen analysis and knowledge from archeological excavations.
