Mauna Ulu is a lava shield which was grown during1969-74 eruption of Kilauea Volcano
We measured a orientation of ropy surfaces and pahoehoe toes at the surface of the 1972-74 pahoehoe lava flow field. Our observation point was Mau Loa o Mauna Ulu Trail head, 3km south from the top of Mauna Ulu. We measured more than 500 orientations. We will discuss how these data reflects general slope of the lava field around the obeservation point.
