The EISCAT_3D system has been in various stages of planning for more than a decade. Some of the system details have evolved over that time and many of the system capabilities have seen significant expansion. As of September 2017 EISCAT_3D has now entered an implementation phase.
This presentation will describe the system's planned capabilities as well as how they will be realized. It will also show the detailed status of the implementation as well as the planned schedule for installation and commissioning of various subsystems.
