[SCG66-01] 3-D modeling approaches in sedimentology: Industrial needs and challenges

★Invited Papers

*Kosuke Egawa1 (1.INPEX Corporation)

Keywords:Sedimentology, 3-D modeling, Petroleum industry

Sedimentology is one of the most essential tools to evaluate and characterize subsurface geology in hydrocarbon sedimentary basins. However, available data are usually limited and/or unevenly distributed in any areas of interest, which causes significant uncertainty about the distributions of reservoir and seal rocks, career bed, and source rock. In this talk, I will have a brief introduction on some 3-D modeling approaches in sedimentology for tackling the issues of constraining data, depositional concepts, and spatial and temporal scales in recent oil-and-gas industries.
