Recent studies of disaster science and disaster prevention by the members of the Tohoku Geographical Association are as follows. An article The Ainu People’s Judgment of Situation and their Autonomous Behaviors in the 1822 Usu Volcano Eruption in Hokkaido, Northern Japan by Masatoshi Endo was published in Quarterly Journal of Geography. Over ten papers associated with disaster were read at each academic meeting in recent years. The editorial board is working on the preparation of the book on The Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
