[A-AS06] Progress in dense observation and numerical modeling of micro-scale meteorology

Sun. May 26, 2019 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM 301A (3F)

convener:Junshi Ito(Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, The University of Tokyo), Kentaro Araki(Meteorological Research Institute), Jun-ichi Furumoto(Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere, Kyoto University), Kuniaki Higashi(Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere, Kyoto University Metroweather Co., Ltd.), Chairperson:Junshi Ito(The University of Tokyo), Kentaro Araki(Meteorological Research Institute)

Recent progresses in observations and numerical simulations enable to unveil details in micro- or sub-kilometer scale meteorology. Low level convergences and heat island effects in the micro-scale may be sometimes associated with extreme atmospheric phenomena such as wind gusts and torrential rainfalls. Numerical simulations with very fine resolution may even predict occurrences of such phenomena. This session is welcome to researches and future scopes in the field of micro-scale meteorology.
