[A-CG45] Visible Remote Sensing of Hydrospheric Science and Its Application

Tue. May 28, 2019 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM 103 (1F)

convener:Joji Ishizaka(Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research, Nagoya University), Mitsuhiro Toratani(School of Engineering, Tokai University), Yuji Sakuno(Graduate School of Engineering, Hiroshima University), Toru Hirawake(Faculty of Fisheries Sciences, Hokkaido University), Chairperson:Joji Ishizaka(名古屋大学宇宙地球環境研究所)

Variety of visible remote sensing data for hydrospheric science is now available. For example, it is known that 20 years of long time series of 1 km resolution ocean color data from OCTS-SeaWiFS-MODIS is available. At the end of 2017, 250 m resolution SGLI (Shikisai) was launched by JAXA, and with 300 m resolution European OLSI it became possible to use high resolution and high frequency data. Furthermore, geostationary satellite data from Korean GOCI is also useful. Not only the satellite variety, diversity of products is also increasing from just phytoplankton pigment, chlorophyll-a, to primary production, phytoplankton community structure and even non-phytoplankton materials and optical properties. Those ocean color satellite data should be useful for various fields of hydrospheric science, combining with higher resolution LANDSAT as well as high frequency Himawari data. In this section, we will discuss the variety of new observations and applications of visible remote sensing in hydrospheric science.
