[H-CG26] Deltas and estuaries: multidisciplinary analyses of complex river-mouth systems

Mon. May 27, 2019 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM 301B (3F)

convener:Yoshiki Saito(Estuary Research Center, Shimane University), Guan-Hong Lee(Inha University), David L Dettman(University of Arizona), Kazuaki Hori(Department of Geography, Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University), Chairperson:Yoshiki Saito(Shimane Univ/ GSJ, AIST), David Dettman(University of Arizona)

This session has foci on morphodynamics, material cycling, and sustainability in deltas and estuaries. We invite contributions that advance research on deltas and estuaries as complex river-mouth systems from modern and ancient examples, and that develop integrated frameworks for delta & estuary dynamics modeling on a broad range of temporal and spatial scales: from studies of coastal evolution over the Quaternary to small-scale sediment/material transport processes. We also invite physical processes studies based on field observations, numerical simulation and flume experiments. Finally, the conveners encourage contributions that promote data collection and sharing for both advancing science and local problem solving, that consider policy and governance issues linked to the sustainable development of deltas and estuaries, and that use in-situ and satellite data for modeling and risk assessment.
