[H-CG28] Implementing Integrated Research for Sustainable Future

Tue. May 28, 2019 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM Poster Hall (International Exhibition Hall8, Makuhari Messe)

convener:Yukio Himiyama(Emeritus Professor, Hokkaido University of Education), Akihiko Kondoh(Center for Environmental Remote Sensing, Chiba University), Takeshi Sakurai(Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo), Kenichi Abe(Research Institute for Humanity and Nature)

The world global environmental studies are being re-organized in the framework of Future Earth, which is considered to be an important driver to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by UN in 2015. Geoscience, which has traditionally been concerned about the dynamic nature and phenomena of the Earth, including lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere, is now increasingly committed to human sphere and human dimensions of global change, assuming unique roles in Future Earth and the SDGs. The session is intended to discuss the crucial issues related with them, particularly in reference to such SDGs as good health and well-being, quality education, clean water and sanitation, sustainable cities and communities, climate action, life below water and life on land. Those interested in Future Earth, SDGs, and ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) particularly those who have already started or are about to start related projects, or are interested in Future Earth Knowledge-Action Networks (KANs), such as Ocean, Food-Water-Energy Nexus, Health, Disasters, Cities, Natural Assets, will find this Session an ideal place to present his/her research results, to exchange information and ideas, and to seek new collaborative relations with other research groups and even with partners in the society.
