[S-VC35] Mitigation of volcanic disasters - basic and applied researches

Mon. May 27, 2019 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM 105 (1F)

convener:Shinji Takarada(Geological Survey of Japan, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology), Mitsuhiro Yoshimoto(Mount Fuji Research Institute, Yamanashi Prefectural Government), Yasuhiro Ishimine(Research and Education Center for Natural Hazards, Kagoshima University), Tomohiro Kubo(National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention), Chairperson:Tomohiro Kubo(防災科学技術研究所), Shinji Takarada(Geological Survey of Japan/AIST)

Volcanic disasters are caused by wide range of volcanic phenomena including ash fall, pyroclastic flow, debris avalanche, lahar, and lava flow. To mitigate volcanic disasters, wide range of technologies including simulation, data processing on GIS, and communication techniques are required. Researches on volcanic hazards mapping, eruption scenarios, and probabilistic eruption assessments are getting important. This session invites presentations and broad reviews related to these topics. Contributions on database technology, case studies of social and school educations, and specific examples of eruption crisis events are also encouraged.
