Keywords:Aircraft observation

The Meteorological Society of Japan proposes on promotion of climate and Earth system science research by introducing a dedicated astronomical observation aircraft for Master Plan 2014 and 2017 of the Science Council of Japan with researchers in a wide field of the Earth and Planetary Sciences. In the Master Plan 2014 and 2017, this proposal was not selected as a priority plan. For Master Plan 2020, we strengthening cooperation with academic societies and researchers in the field of earth planetary science to consolidate the scientific purpose and also stated the cooperation with aeronautical engineering for future evolution of observation system. This research plan, which was originally prepared for the Master Plan 2017, revised to include the updated research field and issued as “Promotion of Climate and Earth System Science Research by Aircraft Observation.” In this presentation, overview of the research plan is introduced in terms of scientific purposes in the various field, proposed aircraft, cost and organization.
