[MGI34-P01] Microstratigraphy of hydrogenetic ferromanganese crusts in the Takuyo-Daisan and -Daigo seamounts

Keywords:ferromanganese crust, microstratigraphy, seamount

Hydrogenetic ferromanganese crusts cover almost all the rock outcrops on the slopes of the Takuyo #3 and #5 seamounts. The secular variations in physical properties are in some cases correlated with the mineral composition or chemical compositions. The youngest Pliocene Zone is enriched with tiny quartz particles with benthic foraminifers, while the older Miocene zone is characterized by coarser mineral grains of volcanic rock origin. Thus the apparent zoning and correlation patterns are overlapped both with local and regional environmental parameters.
