The Jikumaru terraced paddy field in the Oita Bungoono Geopark is located between Ono River and Ogata River and selected as one of the Top 100 Terraced Paddy Fields in Japan. It is suggested that there are a lot of plants for various geography in the Jikumaru terraced paddy field, so we surveyed vegetation in this area.
Result of survey, in the Jikumaru terraced paddy field, we identified 281 plants species. There were 106 plants for example Ottelia alismoides (L.) Pers., Eclipta thermalis Bunge and Schoenoplectus hotarui (Ohwi) Holub, at the paddy field and its ridge. Under the artificial forests of Japanese cedar trees and oak forests, various plants had grown for example Quercus serrata Murray subsp. var. serrata, Rubus buergeri Miq. and Ardisia japonica (Thunb.) Blume var. japonica. Planting species as Lycoris radiata (L'Hér.) Herb. var. radiata and Hydrangeaceae, were checked in this area.
In the Jikumaru terraced paddy field, it was found that vegetation of characterized terraced paddy field for we checked both of mountain and paddy field plants in various geography. This is shown that the Jikumaru terraced paddy field may be one of the elements on the Oita Bungoono Geopark.
