Keywords:GSI Maps, topography, 3D, Geoscience education, teaching materials

GSI Maps which is a web map system operated by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI), have a 3D display function, the so-called GSI Maps 3D. With the GSI Maps 3D, it is possible to visually grasp various topographies. The GSI Maps 3D can be used by Internet browsers, and it is also supported in smartphones. So the GSI Maps 3D will be useful for teaching material development. To create teaching materials, we encourage to make and enjoy various virtual terrain with the GSI Maps 3D.

First of all in my presentation, I will touch on how to use the GSI Maps 3D. In the latter part of my presentation, I will introduce examples of the topographical representation in 3D. I would like to take up as many things as possible, such as volcanic landform, rock-controlled landform, terrace, fault topography.

GSI Maps can represent various topographies in various ways, and new functions are added as needed. I will continue to consider useful examples for Geoscience education.
