Aso UNESCO Global Geopark made an action plan to clear a revalidation process by UNESCO. One of the plans was to reinforce sending an information on ourselves. Just after the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake, we have collected records on hazards of this earthquake and eruptions in Aso Volcano, and have shown the recovering process from these hazards. In 2018, we have made some new Geo-tours reflecting these results. We also have collected more information about the earth activities causing hazards, and have made some educational programs and some SNS output. We will report some of these activities as follows.

Geo-tour:

In Tateno Gorge Geosite, we added to explain a close relation between a view of this site and Futagawa Active Fault, a part of Oita-Kumamoto Tectonic Line. In Uchinomaki Geosite, many hot springs did not work just after the Kumamoto Earthquake. We examined the reason, and could recover the hot springs. We introduced this recovering process in our tour. In Nakadake Geosite, we added to explain about phreatomagmatic explosion in October, 2016. And also we cooperated with the Ministry of the Environment to renew the explanations of the sign installed in National Park.

Educational Program:

We opened educational program on "Aso Geopark" in Aso-Chuo-High School; volcanic activity in Aso, recovering activities from Kumamoto Earthquake disaster, sightseeing in Aso and maintenance in grassland. Exhibition of Aso Volcano Museums was revised based on a recent research result. Visitors can see the crater and the observational data which indicates a volcanic activity in real time.

Activity by SNS:

We effectively use Facebook, Blog, Instagram. We introduced beautiful pictures, information performed within Aso and information on disaster mitigation, etc. We also opened the SNS pages which explain documents published by the Meteorological Agency on volcanic activity of Aso.
