[O03-P26] How ripples formation dependence on the size of sand grains and the amplitude of vibration cycle

*Tsuyoshi Enta1, *Ryutaro Mitsui1 (1.Kaijo Senior High School)

Keywords:Ripple mark, Wave ripples , Sedimentology

How wave ripples can be formed? Using a plastic bottle which contains water and sand grains sorted by its size. We examined conditions by which wave ripples can be formed. We made a vibration apparatus using Lego Mindstorms to vibrate the plastic bottles horizontally and to control the amplitude and the period of the vibration. We count the number of tops of wave ripples each case and considered results.
