[O03-P74] Why Is the Baseball Ground in Our School Badly Drained ?
Keywords:the movement of water , surface drainage
Tokyo Gakugei University High School Baseball Club, are regularly active on the baseball ground, have been bothered by the badness of the drainage. This research aimed to clarify why the drainage of the baseball ground is bad. Previous study in our school had three experiments: 1) observation of baseball ground after raining, 2) experiment comparing the particle size of the soil on the baseball ground and the soccer ground, 3) experiment surveying the property of underground soil with soil boring auger. It indicated that the surface drainage was the main reason of the badness of the baseball ground.
This study had the three experiments below: 1) observations of the puddles, 2) making the surface irregularity map, and 3) surveying the underground soil by soil boring auger. From these experiments, this study suggests that the main reason of the badness of drainage on the baseball ground is the flow path stagnating. For the improvement of the drainage, it is effective to continue the flow path with outside the baseball ground.
On the other hand, it was not possible to estimate the amount of the rainwater that infiltrated the baseball ground. From now on, it is necessary to survey the amount of rainwater infiltrating underground and moving on the surface in order to understand the whole movement of rainwater received by the baseball ground.
