[O06-02] Influence of meteorological disasters on marine ecosystem
★Invited Papers
Keywords:coastal areas, marginal seas, climate change
Since the establishment in 1973, the Study Group on Marine Environmental Problems, the Oceanographic Society of Japan, has been organizing a night sessions and symposiums on marine environmental problems, and summarizing recommendations based on scientific knowledge.
In recent years, with the global warming, an increase in meteorological disasters such as typhoon, localized torrential rain and flood damages has been greatly affecting marine ecosystems, especially in coastal waters. However, our group has not done any efforts to consider weather disasters as one risk of marine environmental problems. In this presentation, I will report on previous studies on the effects of weather disasters on marine ecosystem and hope that this will be utilized in future collaborative research.
