[O08-05] The Important Things in Communicating Earth's Activity to Local Residents: the Awareness during Four Years after Changing a Job from a Geoscience Postdoc to a Curator
★Invited Papers
Keywords:Earth sciences, geopark, interpretation
Four years ago, I changed a job from a postdoctoral researcher at a university to a curator at the Tottori Prefectural Government. After my career change, a target for my communication changed from scientists and graduate students having a passion for earth sciences to local people and administrative staff who had never learned earth sciences deeply. How can I let them know the interest for earth sciences?
I believe the interest about earth sciences is to come to realize or imagine that "the earth is active". However, I feel many people are less interested in earth sciences because there is little opportunity to feel its interest. One of my missions as a curator is simply passing on "the earth is active" to as many people as possible.
What I gradually learned from my experience as a curator for four years is that telling memories of landscape and life which listeners had seen could link to their interest for earth sciences when I tell about earth activity. Including these stories, I would like to talk about some perceptions that I gained through the curatorial work in my presentation.
