At the Space Weather Forecast Center of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, the latest 24-hour outlines and forecasts of space weather are provided to space weather users every day.
Delivers of space weather information have been continuously performed for over 50 years as ISES Regional Warning Center, Japan, and operators in the space weather forecast center are in charge of this task.
The operational work is conducted 7 days a week. Operators collect and analyze various observation data and simulation results provided from domestic and overseas collaborators, and summarize current space weather conditions before daily briefing at 14:30 JST.
In order to determine the next 24-hour forecast, operators organize a discussion meeting with specialists, and deliver forecasts before the due at 16 JST.
In addition, operators hold regular monthly meetings, consider the results of the forecasts, and feed back to improve next forecast accuracy.
When a remarkable space weather phenomenon occurs, operators has a responsibility to deliver alerts information immediately.
In this presentation, we introduce the daily work content of the space weather forecaster and the procedure up to deciding the content of the forecast with actual case examples.
In addition, we will also introduce contrivances and other measures to operate 365 days a year without breaks.
