[SIT26-12] Subduction and exhumation of the high pressure metamorphic rocks: What we know and what we need to know.

*Timothy B Byrne1 (1.University of Connecticut)

Although great strides have been made in understanding the subduction and, to a lesser extent the exhumation, of high pressure rocks, the links between these two processes is much less clear. As a result, many of the regional-scale models of these processes are poorly constrained and weakly supported by data. In this discussion session, we would like to better understand the data and observations that provide evidence for exhumation of high pressure rocks and, in areas were data gaps remain, what data are necessary to advance our understanding.
