[U02-04] Problem in paternity leave

*Yukihiro Takahashi1 (1.Department of Cosmosciences, Graduate School of Science, Hokkaido University)

Keywords:childcare leave, gender gap

I took childcare leave in 1999 and 2004 for half year and three months, respectively. At that time only 75 ppm of men took this leave for more than 3 months. Still only about 5 percent men take it (including very short one) now. There is a list of reasons why they didn’t take it on the government web page. However, I think one of the most essential reason that cannot appear on such research is the lack of international common sense related to the gender issues.
