Keywords:Geography, JpGU, Collaboration

Although some geographers and geographical societies have been members of JpGU, the majority of geographers in Japan seldom contribute to JpGU activities. One reason for this is that more than half of Japanese geographers are specialized in human geography, whereas JpGU focuses on physical sciences. However, interdisciplinary studies integrating arts and sciences are becoming all the more important, and modern geography linked to natural hazards and global environmental issues requires knowledge of earth sciences. Therefore, geography in JpGU should play an increasing role. This presentation aims to discuss how to strengthen collaborative relationships between JpGU and geographers.
