This session aims to discuss land-atmosphere interaction over the Asian monsoon region because this interaction is one of the essential components of the Asian monsoon system. Precipitation characteristics and cloud-precipitation processes are closely tied with land-atmosphere interactions, which are also a key target. Over Asia, climate are various, which produces various land-atmosphere-precipitation interactions. Influences of complex topography on precipitation characteristics are also considered. It may be interesting that the interactions can vary with scales in space and in time.
In addition, monsoon precipitation variability is a target of this session, which can be also associated with land surface conditions. We would like to approach the mechanism behind the precipitation/precipitation characteristics variability. In addition, to understand past and future precipitation variability, impacts of land-use changes and/or global warming should be considered. A large variety of observation, numerical modeling and their combined analyses are encouraged.
