[A-AS15] Progress in dense observation and numerical modeling of micro-scale meteorology

convener:Junshi Ito(Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, The University of Tokyo ), Kentaro Araki(Meteorological Research Institute), Nobumitsu Tsunematsu(Tokyo Metropolitan Research Institute for Environmental Protection), Keigo Matsuda(Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology)

Progresses in observations and numerical simulations enable to unveil details in micro- or sub-kilometer scale meteorology. For example, low level convergences and heat island effects in the micro-scale may be sometimes associated with extreme atmospheric phenomena such as wind gusts and torrential rainfalls. Numerical simulations with very fine resolution may even predict occurrences of such phenomena. This session is welcome to researches and future scopes in the field of micro-scale meteorology.
