[A-HW35] Perspectives on Surface- and subsurface-water resources, society, and the environment
convener: Abhishek(Tokyo Institute of Technology), Tsuyoshi Kinouchi(Tokyo Institute of Technology), Brijesh K yadav(Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee)
Major demographic transition of the developing world from rural to urban societies because of the industrialization and associated employment opportunities has caused unprecedented stress on the available water resources. Massive population growth has further deteriorated the prevailing environmental conditions and has hindered the sustainable growth of the economies. The scope of this session is to create an interdisciplinary forum by providing a common platform for the researchers from academia, industry, and the government belonging to wide geographic diversity to discuss recent scientific results of surface water and groundwater resources related to the society and the enirvironment. More specifically, this session welcomes the presentations related to but not limited to:
1) Surface water and groundwater resources, their pollution, and interaction.
2) Numerical and physical modelling of near-surface and subsurface processes.
3) Societal influence on the governance and management of water resources.
4) Impacts of urbanization on groundwater: quantity and quality aspects.
5) Quantifying the influence of water resources' pollution on human health.
