[H-CG25] Turbidity current: generation, morphodynamics and deposits
convener:Hajime Naruse(Department of Geology and Mineralogy, Graduate School of Science, Kyoto University), Robert Michael Dorrell(University of Hull), Miwa Yokokawa(Osaka Institute of Technology)
We invite research based on all kinds of approaches to understand turbidity currents such as field observation, physical and numerical experiments, mathematical analysis, and studies from rock records. Recent progress in research methodologies has greatly changed our understanding of dynamics of turbidity currents and relevant submarine geomorphology and stratigraphy. The integration of such new knowledge on turbidity currents is important not only for scientific interests but also for practical application such as risk assessment of natural hazards, and exploration of resources. We anticipate interdisciplinary discussions about turbidity currents and related sediment gravity flows.
