[H-CG30] Archeological Science: Earth Sciences and Archaeology
convener:Yorinao Shitaoka(Department of Environment System, Faculty of Geo-environmental Science, Rissho University), Tadahiro Hatakeyama(Information Processing Center, Okayama University of Science), Masataka Hakozaki(National Museum of Japanese History)
Archaeological science, which analyzes remains and archaeological sites using geoscientific approaches, has become an invaluable research method to advance research in archaeology by the examination of "things" left behind by earlier humans. Research methods of a wide range, including age determination and paleoenvironmental reconstruction, geophysical exploration, and material analysis, have been applied in archaeological science as methods using geoscientific approaches. Clay body analysis using a stable isotope ratio and research to ascertain the dynamics of humans and livestock are also progressing. This session is aimed at promoting scientific archaeological research to enable further contributions to archaeology. For that purpose, we accumulate the latest knowledge by bringing together all results of archaeological scientific research conducted to restore the history of humankind and to address related fields in an interdisciplinary manner.
