Keywords:Typhoon, cold low

Typhoon Jongdari (2018) made landfall near Ise, Mie Prefecture and proceed west through Western Japan.
This course of the typhoon was first time ever since records began in 1951.
We hypothesize that the abnormal course was controlled by a cold vortex in the south of Japan.
In this study, we focus on the interaction between the typhoon and the cold vortex, and we investigated whether the cold vortex affected the abnormal course of the typhoon.
