[AGE43-P01] History of Hydropedology and perspectives
Keywords:soil, water, interdisciplinary
Hidropedology was first proposed by Professor Henry Lin in 2003. He defined Hidropedology as an intertwined branch of soil science and hydrology that embraces interdisciplinary and multiscale approaches for the study of interactive pedologic and hydrologic processes and properties in the earth’s critical zone. He hosted the First International Hydropedlopgy Conference in 2008 at Pennsylvania State University. In 2012 he edited a book entitled Hydropedology, which was published by Academic Press. He hosted two more International Hydropedology Conferences. The fourth is scheduled to be held in Australia in 2020, but he cannot make it. He passed away on September 26, 2019 at the age of 54. His idea of the interdisciplinarity should be inherited and extended into soil physics as well.
