[AOS21-P05] Interannual modulation of intraseasonal wave activity over the equatorial Indian Ocean
In this study, interannual modulation of intraseasonal wave activity over the equatorial Indian Ocean was investigated using 1.5-layer reduced gravity model. Simulated interannual modulation of 30-day intraseasonal wave activity shows significant reduction of the wave activity during positive Indian Ocean Dipole (pIOD) mode events. Such inactive intraseasonal wave activity suggests that eastward warm water transport by the equatorial/coastal Kelvin wave is reduced. It seems favorable to maintain cold phase of SST in the eastern pole. In presentation, other dominant intraseasonal variability (60-day, 90-day) will be investigated.
