Keywords:IOD, upwelling, EIOURI, IIOE2

The positive dipole event in 2019 is one of the stronger events in the record and produced extreme forest fire in Australia and deadly flooding in Africa. The event started in May, took the peak in October and terminated in January 2020. Under the eastern Indian Ocean upwelling research initiative (EIOURI), JAMSTEC installed a surface mooring at 5S 100E from December 2018 for capturing upper ocean and meteorological variables associated with upwelling and IOD. Also we conducted research cruise in the Java-Sumatra upwelling region by Barunajaya I in cooperation with Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT). Acquired data by CTD and LADCP observation indicate strong upwelling feature in the Java-Sumatra upwelling region. The details will be shown in the presentation.
