[G03-01] Outreach activity of "Teacher at sea" via internet connection

Japan Association of Marine Science and Technology (here after JAMSTEC) performed extensive organization reform in April, 2019 and operated 7 research vessels and more than 10 deep ocean investigating systems, such as Shinkai submersible 6500, autonomous underwater vehicle, remote operated robots. At the same time, we are performing education and outreach activities for not only kindergarten, elementary, junior, senior high schools, college, university students, but local autonomous community, senior, and neighborhood associations. It might be effective for general public to introduce unique facilities as “D/V Chikyu”, “Shinkai 6500 submersible” and "AUV-NEXT” to know widely their activities and also human resource cultivation. In this session, we focus on outreach activities via internet access to onboard participants carried out so far and discuss their effectiveness. The internet connects school class and shipboard with bidirectional question and answer.
