[HCG29-03] Case Study of Field & Project Based Learning in Iitate Village, Fukushima Prefecture
Keywords:revival agriculture, Iitate village, Fukushima, FPBL
Revival of Iitate Village, which has had a handicap of radioactively contaminated land since 2011, is not simply a matter of technical decontamination or physical reconstruction of infrastructure, but rather fostering young people who can take on challenges to create a new Japanese-style agriculture there. The authors have gathered university students from all over Japan in Iitate Village to conduct field tours and research activities. This is one of the efforts to dispel reputational damage, and at the same time, is a practical trial of FPBL(Field & Project Based Learning), which applies knowledge and know-how accumulated after the disaster to on-site problem solving and research activities. In this presentation, we will introduce our projects so far and discuss the future revival in Fukushima from the viewpoint of "revival agriculture" which is a field-based principle based on basic science.
