[HCG32-P03] A review: Earthquake activity of the Median Tectonic Line, Japan

*Daisuke Suetsugu1 (1.institute for Marine Geodynamics, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology)

Keywords:Median Tectonic Line, Earthquake activity

In January 2020, the Hiroshima High Court ordered Shikoku Electric Power Co. to suspend a reactor of the Ikata Nuclear Power Plant, which is placed a few kilometers from a greatest active fault in Japan, the Median Tectonic Line. The decision was based on a risk from earthquakes of the fault and volcanoes in Kyushu. We provide a review of research and survey for activity of the Median Tectonic Line.
