Conservation of traditional spring water is necessary to maintain the harmonious relationship between hydrological environment and human activity on the Island. The spring water has been used importantly as municipal water and agriculture water of inhabitants or a long time. But, the environment surrounding spring water is changing in Japan. This time, The purpose of the present study is to investigate the actual hydrological environment and sustainable use of traditional spring water on Okinoerabu, Yoron, and Kikai Island, an outlying island in the Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.
