[MAG42-04] Tremendous damage of I30JP by typhoon “FAXAI”
Keywords:CTBT, National Data Centre, infrasound, waveform analysis, typhoon
Typhoon No.15 “FAXAI” attacked around Tokyo area (including Isumi city where I30JP was installed) which brought strong wind and rainfall widely on 08-09/Sep./2019. The barometric pressure when it landed in Chiba prefecture (08/Sep. 19:00UTC) was 960hPa. It caused tremendous damage by strong wind at Tokyo and Chiba. Because so many electric poles and towers were toppled, power outage continued for more than 2 weeks in the vast area of Chiba prefecture.
In I30JP, IMS infrasound station in Japan, observation data of I30H1 – I30H6 are normally transmitted to IDC miraculously, however, in each site so many cedars were fallen and observation facilities were heavily damaged.
Here, it is shown about analysis results during the typhoon passed through Tokyo area. Infrasound waveform data are compared at the damaged site (I30H6) before and after the typhoon. Furthermore, the surrounding environment has been quite changed at I30H6 after the typhoon, the future remedial action plan for maintenance is also introduced.
