The Earth, space, and environmental sciences have been working across continents to recognize scientific data (and software) as valuable research contributions that must be “available, preserved, documented, and fairly credited” as stated in AGU’s data position statement. (https://www.agu.org/Share-and-Advocate/Share/Policymakers/Position-Statements/Position_Data) To make this possible, stakeholders from communities such as publishers, repositories, funders, institutions, and researchers have begun to better preserve and cite their data and software. This talk will describe the current progress and efforts to make data (and software) sharing a common practice.
