Through observations and laboratory experiments, the conditions which mirage is likely to occur were investigated. It was found that some of the mirage was affected by recesses in the observation area and some of them were not. As a result, it was found that the sunshine is the most important factor, and that it is wrong to say that it is easier to see the difference between the temperature on the ground and the temperature in the air. In the experiment, the goal was to generate mirage on a hot plate, but it was not possible to do so. However, when the experiment was photographed through a thermographic camera, it was confirmed that a layer of air had been formed.
