[O04-P14] Evaluating the Effect of Global Warming on Yokohama Using Nightlight Satellite Data and Large Point Sources Data

*Sota Komiya1 (1.Yokohama Science Frontier High School)

Keywords:Environment, Global Warming, Greenhouse Gas

Global warming refers to the increase in the earth's average temperature that occurs naturally or, as theorized in recent years, is induced by human activity. It was alarming for many people in Japan that so many factors affected our planet. This investigation uses two kinds of data: D1-Nightlight Satellite Data from NASA and D2- Large Point Source from the Japanese Ministry of the Environment in order to analyze greenhouse gas emissions using the Nightlight and Large Point Source data. This work introduces a new way to investigate the greenhouse gases emissions in Yokohama using kernel density estimations and makes some grids to identify key areas to observe for consumption of greenhouse gases. In this investigation, there were two major methods of observation (1) requesting disclosure of data regarding greenhouse emissions and (2) making a coordinates table from the data. This helped in identifying the greenhouse gas situation in Yokohama. This research is now undergoing its final stage in gathering more data and analyzing the greenhouse effect in Yokohama.
