[O04-P26] Research about Moriya Formation

*Yusuke Morozumi1 (1.Suwa seiryo senior high school)

Keywords:Moriya Foration, Geological time, Depositional Environment

I checked the fossils from Moriya formation to identify the geological time and the depositional environment of it.

I discovered some fossils of Mizuhopecten kimurai that is the index fossils of Langhian. So,the geological time is Langhian. Many people told that it was Aquitanian or Burdigalian. It’s wrong.

However,I collected many fossils of Anadara and Macoma from old formations. They lived in the shallow sea. So,there was the shallow sea. But I collected many fossils of Mizuhopecten kimurai and Cyclocardia siogamensis from new formations. They lived in the deep sea. So,there was the deep sea. These results told that the sea got deep. I checked the formations in detail, I discovered some traces of transgression and regression.
In addition, I compared the fossils from Moriya formation with the fossils from other formations. I discover some common points and differences. If I check these discoveries in detail, I can identify the sea connection in Fossa Magna area.
