“Kantemboki” is Japanese old sayings about weather. People used to look up the sky and observe the color of sky, the shapes and the movements of clouds, the direction and strength of wind blows, visibility of the Sun and the moon, change in animal activities. Then people empirically predicted the weather using those natural phenomena.

Those sayings range from major ones widely spread throughout Japan to minor ones vary by local areas. However, some of them have not been scientifically proven whether or not they work. We aim to verify the accuracy of weather lore by observational data collection.

We selected the following three “Kantemboki”s to verify. “The one relates to Mt.Aoba in Takahama town”, “The one relates to the direction of wind blows”,” “The one relates to the Sun”.
