[O04-P58] Protect the traditional shrimp fishing in Obama Bay
The traditional shrimp fishing is operated from June to August at around Obama Bay in Obama-city, Fukui Prefecture. However Shirasa shrimp ( Scientific name: Metapenaeus ensis ) is a target for this fishing, catch of shrimp ( Metapenaeus ensis ) has dropped drastically. It is not known exactly why it is happening. Around Obama Bay, in the past, there were 30 fisherpersons to operate this fishing at its peak, but only one fisherperson lasts now. We went on the field survey in order to find out a cause of fall of catch and to protect this traditional fishing. We assumed from the results that decrease of seagrass meadow and landfill might be the cause of dropping. We will continue to research.
