The land of Shimokita Geopark is constructed by the four geological bodies; Accretionary prism formed in Mesozoic, Submarine volcanic depositions formed in Paleogene, Volcanic depositions erupted in Quaternary and Depositional plains. In Shimokita Geopark, there are various stories including geological, ecological and anthropological fragments to know the interesting stories. These geological bodies indicate not only the history of formation of Shimokita area but also that of Japan.
