The Goto Islands have been engaged in various activities for Geopark certification. However, the Goto Islands Geopark was not certified by the Japan Geopark Committee in 2019. The Goto Islands Geopark Promotion Council has been conducting various activities with the aim of improving the understanding and awareness of Geopark activities more than ever, aiming to solve the issue indicated in the review result report presented by the Japan Geopark Committee. As part of this, we will report on the activities to protect the locality of quartz twins on the Japanese law from Narushima. Narushima is known to researchers and mineral collectors as a very famous locality of quartz twins on the Japanese law, and its detailed location has been featured in many books, guidebooks, and the Internet. In recent years, quartz twins on the Japanese law have been sold at high prices on the Internet, and illegal collections have continued despite collection bans. As the results, quartz twins on the Japanese law are more difficult to find as before, and protecting them with the island residents, seems urgent. The poster presentation will introduce the twins and explain their activities at the place of origin and possible actions to protect the place of production with the aim of understanding and cooperating with the Narushima residents.
