[O05-P21] The Land Formed by severe crustal movement and the Lives of its People
–case study of the Misaki Group in Tosashimzu Geopark Plan–

Keywords:Tosashimizu Geopark Plan, Geopark, Japan Sea Opening

Tosashimizu Geopark Plan committee is located on the southwestern tip of Shikoku in Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture. The geology of Tosashimizu consists of accretionary prism (28 to 16 Ma), the Misaki Group of forearc basin sediments (17 to 15 Ma), and Ashizuri granite (13 Ma). The Misaki Group and Ashizuri Granite are very important in understanding the origin of the Japan arc, because they are strongly related to severe crustal movement during the Japan Sea Opening. And these geological bodies not only have a value to the earth sciences but they also have a great influence on industry, culture and natural disasters.
In this presentation, we will introduce the history of the Japan arc, which can be understood from the Misaki Group, and the life on the Misaki Group, and how to understand and experience them.
