Kazafuki volcano, central Japan consist with the northeastern part of Shirouma-Oike volcano. It was believed that there was no Holocene eruption at this volcano. Based on geological field survey, the tephra layer for this volcano was newly discovered. The ¹⁴C dating result of the soil layer just below the tephra layer that is newly discovered is about 4,000 yr BP. In addition, the latest magmatic eruption unit has a ¹⁴C dating result of about 8800 yr BP. It makes be clear that Kazafuki volcano had erupted several times during the Holocene.
