[U08-05] Transdisciplinary research on geoscience in society

Global environmental issues such as global warming, decrease of biodiversity, global nitrogen contamination are wicked problems with involvement of many stakeholders, wide difference of interests, and some degrees of scientific uncertainties. To solve these wicked problems, global research communities such as Future Earth realize the importance of co-design/co-production/co-delivery with stakeholders in society as transdisciplinary research. As co-design with stakeholders including governors, media, industry, and citizen, Japanese Strategic Research Agenda (JSRA) for global environmental issues had been made, and identified 108 agendas which are important not only for scientists but also for society. These 108 agendas are categorized into ten groups, and prioritization of JSRA has been made in terms of necessity of trasdisciplinary research and character of Japanese research. Recursive and mutual learning with stakeholders are important for science in society. This JSRA are used in some Japanese associations on geoscience under JpGU for making a decision of future research directions.
