Recently developed observational and numerical approaches have revealed details of physical processes in coastal regions, which are keys to understanding global ocean circulations and ecosystems. This session aims to provide discussions of mixing, eddies, nonlinear internal waves in coastal and marginal oceans, estuaries and lakes. Observations, numerical modeling and laboratory experiments associated with these phenomena are encouraged to submit an abstract to this session. In addition, studies that consider linkages between coastal physical processes and large scale open ocean processes, e.g., the Kuroshio, global ocean circulations.
